Tank Head FAQs

Answers to common questions about head geometry, drawings and quotation preparation.

01

Geometry and dimensions

Confirm the actual section profile and keep each dimension tied to a measurement basis. A product name alone is not a complete specification.

02

Material and project documents

Keep material grades, geometry standards, design requirements and inspection documents distinct. The required combination belongs in the drawing and project specification.

03

Quotation and order preparation

Quantity, material, drawing requirements and delivery arrangements need to be reviewed together. Product examples do not set one universal price, minimum quantity or production time.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you enquire.

Can I start an enquiry without a finished drawing?

Yes. Describe the shape, material, dimensions and questions you already have. Identify the missing details so they can be discussed.

What dimensions should I send?

Include the diameter with ID or OD basis, units, thickness basis and the profile-specific dimensions such as depth, straight flange or radii.

Are elliptical and 2:1 ellipsoidal always the same requirement?

No. Confirm the intended ratio, geometry standard and drawing dimensions. Do not assume that every elliptical description means a 2:1 profile.

Are all dished-head descriptions interchangeable?

No. Use the actual crown, knuckle and flange geometry to confirm what terms such as torispherical, F&D or shallow-dished mean for the project.

Does hot pressing specify a pressure rating?

No. Hot pressing describes a forming process. Pressure-vessel design conditions and requirements are a separate matter.

How should I specify stainless steel?

Provide the full grade, material specification and product form shown on the drawing. State surface and documentation requirements separately.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Include the required quantity in the enquiry. Quantity conditions need to be considered with the material, geometry and actual supply requirement.

How is production timing confirmed?

The project drawing, material, quantity, processing and inspection requirements need to be reviewed before timing is addressed in the quotation.

Can I ask about a sample or first article?

State why it is required, the intended quantity and the acceptance requirements. Availability and terms need to be confirmed for the project.

Which inspection documents should I request?

List the material, dimension and other inspection records required by the project, including their applicable scope and acceptance requirements.

What delivery information is useful?

Provide the destination country and any packing, transport or trade-term requirements so they can be addressed in the quotation.

Does submitting an enquiry place an order?

No. An enquiry starts a discussion. The actual specification, commercial offer and order details need separate confirmation.
