Define the component
Identify the head shape and the interfaces it needs to meet. A section drawing helps communicate a profile that is difficult to describe with a product name alone.
Prepare the technical inputs
- Material designation and specification.
- Diameter with ID or OD basis and units.
- Thickness basis, height, flange and radii as applicable.
- Quantity, drawing revision and inspection requirements.
Clarify the supply scope
Identify which drawing, manufacturing, inspection and delivery requirements belong to the component. Design responsibility and applicable project requirements need explicit confirmation.
Keep the first enquiry simple
Send the information you have and highlight the open questions. A complete engineering package is useful, but it does not need to be invented before the discussion can begin.
