Quality & Technical Documents

Define what needs to be checked—and how the records should connect to the component.

01

Material identification

A material designation should be supported by the project’s document requirements. Specify how the material, batch references and supplied component need to be identified.

  • Material specification and grade.
  • Required material-document type.
  • Traceability and part identification requirements.
02

Dimensions and thickness

Tie inspection requirements to the applicable drawing revision. Distinguish the nominal thickness from any required minimum after forming.

  • Dimensions and measurement bases.
  • Tolerances and acceptance criteria.
  • Thickness basis and any required measurement locations.
03

Inspection scope

List any additional inspection required by the project, together with its scope and acceptance requirements. A method name alone does not define how much inspection is required.

04

Agree the document list

Identify the records needed for quotation and supply. Keep certificates, material documents and project-specific inspection reports distinct.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you enquire.

Does a company certificate replace a project inspection report?

No. A management-system certificate, material document and component-specific inspection report serve different purposes. Specify the documents required for the actual project.
